7 Excellent people sourcing tools for social recruiting
There is still one point that people are simply not getting when it comes to when using social media for recruitment - aka social recruiting. And believe it or not it needs explaining to people, because they are still not quite understanding how big a point it is. So what am I talking about?
The actual size of YOUR digital footprint which can also be called your social media footprint. Everyone has one (yes, you've got it, that includes all the prospective candidates and employees for your company or recruitment agency!)
When was the last time you even bothered looking at your own digital footprint?
Go over to Google and Bing and put your name in and see what comes up. Then do an image search on the same search engines and see what comes up. You may be surprised to find out where you are being mentioned. Even better set up some email alerts on Google Alerts and SocialMention.com to do this automatically for you. I found my blog posts quoted on other blogs all around the world by doing this!!
Here is a slide I put together showing a few images that came up form doing an image search on Google on just my name:
Now go and do yours and see what comes up
The point to this is that as we all know that talent is getting harder to find. You are having to look harder, deeper and be a little more clever in your approaches to find the people you and/or your clients are looking to recruit. This can be time consuling (but certainly worth it if you find the right person!)
So you need to start looking in different places to find people. You need to apply lateral thinking and be different in your approach. Then when you find them, you need to approach them in a responsible way - not the 'bull in a china shop' approach many 'stupid' recruiters use (I dont have to explain that one, surely!)
As I have said everyone has a digital footprint - however large or small. So, how do you go about finding them by their (sometimes) varied footprints?
Over this year a number of really good search tools have emerged as credible people sourcing tools. I have listed some of the best ones below:
Addictomatic is a great visual tool to search many different types of websites, from blogs to images to searches to social media.
Spezify is one of my favourites. It is a visual search engine and displays the results in a creative way.
Yauba is a real time search engine, looking closely at the social media channels
SocialMention is probably my favourite social media search tool, as you can do so much with the results.
eTools.ch is a metasearch engine, that pulls in results from a number of different other search engines.
Yatedo is a great people search engine
Pipl is another great people search engine
BoardTracker searches forums and online discussions for people and conversations - superb for the niche skills!
[Of course, if you use any other good ones please let me know]
Now these should keep you busy for a few weeks
Give them a try - don't always rely on the stick search engines like Google and Bing there are many others that will find excellent people for you.
Happy hunting!
