Have you got time for a Google Plus Masterclass @ #SMIR13 ?
Social recruiting now has a staple diet of 'main stream' social networks, such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube. And that it as far as many people look - they make their social media assumptions on networks based on these platforms and what is written about them. Well there are others that need consideration - many others in fact - but one stands out for me as a really important network for recruiters - Google Plus.
There are many naysayers that say that it is a ghost town and that nobody is on the platform but that is now 'old hat'. Google 'own' search with the biggest search engine; Google own the second largest search engine, YouTube; Google have one of the most popular email systems with GMail and now have an integrated social network called Google Plus. Scale doesn't mean success, but it helps when you have all those users as a starting point!
One thing that has been surprising to me is the lack of awareness of how useful Google Plus can be for recruitment. After all, it can do pretty much everything from a recruiting perspective > sourcing people, connecting with them, sharing content with them, messaging privately, creating communities, using Hangouts (instead of Skype), collaboration etc etc etc
Having already shared some Google Plus love with Apsco members a couple of times, I shall again be sharing some great advice, tips and general Google Plus knowledge at the next Social Media In Recruitment Conference on the 11th July.
It will be part of Mike Taylor's new agenda for this years conference - afternoon masterclass workshops, after a split (traditional style) conference in the morning between social media and mobile. It is always a popular conference as it mixes presentations and case studies from previous attendees.
In my Google+ Masterclass at the conference in the afternoon I will be covering:
- Why Google Plus is REALLY important for your business from a search and SEO perspective
- How to create and build your own talent pools within Google+
- Sourcing candidates the Google plus way (i.e. easy)
- Creating a Google Plus Company Page
- Fed up with Skype? I look at Google Plus Hangouts as a better alternative
Also in the Masterclass, I will be taking a look at Pinterest, the social network that still has the stigma of cup cakes, shoes and cats associated with it! But it can be a great social recruiting tool, and I will look at some tips and examples of how you can start to use Pinterest in your social recruiting strategy.
If you are planning on coming along on the 11th, let me know - it would be good to meet you. To grab an extra discount use the code SIRONA50 when making the booking.
I hope to see you there.
