The 2008 Top Ten Christmas Gifts for Recruiters
Last year I wrote a post that proved to be very popular with people involved with recruitment - it was the Top 10 Christmas Presents for Recruiters. I thought it was worth upgrading for 2008, so here is my revised Top 10 gifts for recruiters for 2008:
1. This is actually got be a joint first place for two fantastic gadgets for anyone involved in recruitment - the Apple 3G iPhone (voted the gadget of the year on The Gadget Show) and the Blackberry Bold. They are both fantastic bits of kit, and both have apps that that work well with recruiting and networking tools such as LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.
2. With all the bad news going round the recruiting sector, with clients slapping recruitment freezes on everywhere, this is something that you can just plug into your laptop. At the first sign of recruitment panic - HIT THE BUTTON!!
3. A cheaper alternative and carbon footprint busting present! This stays at number three - only now you won't be working out which car you will be buying with your year end bonus (unless you work at Odgers), you will just be dreaming of what it WOULD HAVE BEEN LIKE to drive a supercar!!
4. Let's face it, doing the hours we do in recruitment, we are never home to watch the programmes we want, so why not get the best gadget ever- SkyHD (had to upgrade from Sky+, and for all of you who ask the question, yes it is worth it!!) - and never miss a programme again!!
5. The Stealth Umbrella - designed to get you back to the office quicker because of the 'fast fighter plane' like design. This will then allow you more drinking and networking time with all your ex-colleagues who are now seeking jobs outside of recruitment!
6. I have had to bring in the big guns at number 6, and replace last years inflatable office bed, with the king of the chairs - the lazyboy! We will all be spending so much time at the desk, we might as well be comfortable!!
7. I really like this one! You have colleagues that, very simply are annoying you in the office. Take this desktop catapult, load it up with the appropriate punishment (can I recommend a half chewed toffee!), and release the catch!! Simple, but very effective……..and VERY annoying….perfect!!
8. An essential new entry to this years top ten - The Bullshit Detector Watch. With the tough times ahead, there is no space for bullshitters, so if you have a colleague with a tendency to spout bollocks, buy them this watch and 'monitor' what they say!! Bullshit WILL BE detected!!
9. This one is for all those companies checking their CSR and environmental policies. It is a 'I Am Not A Paper Cup', Crafted in double-walled porcelain with a flexible silicone lid, this edgy take on a design classic is perfect for coffee fans who want to replicate that Noo Yawk-style rushing-to-work/slurping-on-a-latte vibe without disposing of the cup afterwards. (You have just got to figure out how to transport the skinny latte from Starbucks first though!!)
10. The obligitory recruiters tipple - Tequila! We all know that after work drink sessions in the bar wouldn't be complete without Tequila, and as such it is a gift that would be well received by anyone who has worked in the recruitment industry - it evokes so many memories of big deals - remember them?
ESSENTIAL at the end of the day!!
Would these make YOUR top ten? What else would you add?

Hi Andy,
I know for a fact recruiters love Tequila, and Rum, and Scotch, and Whiskey, and… This is an awesome top ten list, you can post this to our site link to toptentopten.com and then link back to your site. We are looking for content and in return our users will track back to your site. The coolest feature is you can let other people vote on the rankings of your list.

#1 is really number one. Of course, if he doesn’t already own a similar device, which would be no surprise because both of these gadgets are very convenient for a recruiter

Where did you find this Bullshit Detector Watch from? It’s really a very good idea. Maybe the recruiter should ask all candidates to put this watch on during the interview process.
