[Please note: this graphic is represents a journey through the stages, not a heirachical structure with the top being the pinnacle.]
Just how far will you go to find the right talent for your organisation?
Some client conversations over the last few weeks produces a consistent answer - not far enough.
It seems that many resourcing teams and recruitment agencies are still very reticent to do much for themselves when it comes to recruiting. They may search their own database, they may (possibly) even search their own database (sadly not that often though!) But, many companies simply fall at the 2nd or 3rd hurdle give up and throw their money at recruitment agencies to solve their problem.
While that can definitely be the viable option for certain skill sets, many companies should be doing more.
It may well seem like a large mountain to climb ( dodgy analogy warning - had to tie it in to the graphic I created!!), but success and cost savings depend on how far up the mountain you are prepared to go.
Alright the mountain image is only a representation, but the sad thing is most companies don't get past the nursery slopes! What is encouraging is that there are now companies that are prepared to get climbing, and are into the social recruiting snow cap!!
Some are even reaching the summit and engaging top quality researchers like Heather Travis and super sourcers - like Katharine Robinson - the current Grand Master Sourcer to help identify and build targeted talent pools.
So how far are you going to find the right talent for your organisation? Should you not be climbing higher?
Go on…………………………… get your crampons out!!
