REC gives us all a lesson in stating the obvious!! It is good to see the governing body of recruitment - REC - issuing a press release, promoting their new latest employment survey, but why make it so 'old news' and obvious? Who are members of REC after all - recruitment agencies of course. Do we really need to be told that the 'War for Talent' is the main issue facing our industry, when we experience this every day (and have done for many months!!) with our clients. No I don't think so!!
Do REC believe that recruitment consultants don't have any idea about their own industry......obviously they do!! Reassuring then, that they represent the recruitment industry isn't it??!!!
Roger Tweedy, who is REC's Director of Research says, "..the 'war for talent' continues to intensify for employers on all fronts: they are registering with more agencies, training more workers and also exploiting the full range of recruitment channels." These are really basic statements aren't they? Did it need full research to tell us that?
He continues.."The research suggests that new opportunities and challenges lie ahead in an increasingly competitive environment." Wow, a real cutting edge statement describing our industry wasn't it? Is it any wonder that there are large numbers of recruitment consultants and recruitment agencies, who don't join REC because they struggle to see the value they add? Sometimes it's not hard to see why......
